Standing under the night sky and seeing the Aurora Borealis dance and change color in the sky above, is an experience you will never forget! It is easy to be so mesmerized by such experience, that you might want to keep you camera put away. But the photo opportunities is equally amazing – since no two shows are alike, every photo is equally unique.
I have long thought my good friends, fellow Antarctica guides and professional photographers, Patrick Endres and Hugh Rose offered the best Northern Light photo tour in Alaska, so when Patrick decided to take a one year sabbatical, I was more than happy to fill in for him. Why do I think this is the best Aurora photo tour?
First, they base the trip at a remote lodge in the heart of the Brooks Range, which not only surrounds you with amazing scenery, but puts you smack dab in the middle of the aurora oval. This location maximizes the chances of witnessing this amazing phenomenon, but also provides beautiful daytime subject matter. We won’t have the long nightly drive to escapes the lights of Fairbanks – we will be staying where the action is!
Second, by utilizing two guides and two vehicles, the degree of safety and self-reliance is greatly improved – something that shouldn’t be taken lightly in such a remote and potentially cold location. Hugh and I are also both Wilderness First Responders and also will be carrying radios and a sat phone. . Two vehicles / guides also gives us the added flexibility of running part of the group back to the lodge if a someone gets cold or tired, without affecting the rest of the group.
I could go on and on about this all inclusive 8 day tour, but I will leave that to Hugh – you can find the details here: Northern Lights Photo Tour - http://www.hughrosephotography.com/march-17-24-2015-aurora-tour/ For availability and more information, contact Hugh or myself.
